workshop partitions - tate modern - 2017
In Situ were approached by the Tate Modern to design a series of spaces for Tate Collective’s collaboration with TENT Rotterdam ‘Where Does Culture Happen?’ 15 young artists explored local DIY cultures and bedroom art scenes around London to then put together a week long workshop series for the public.
In Situ designed and built a series of mesh partitions to subdivide the gallery with. These were envisioned as physical representations of the internet (a key facilitator for DIY cultures). The public clipped work to these, gradually obscuring the workshop areas with information and creating an interactive DIY response to the Tate’s permanent collection.
